Where to stay in Gangtok: the short guide
Gangtok is built along steep ridges, so a hotel close to MG Marg saves a lot of uphill walking and taxi rides. MG Marg is the pedestrian heart of town, with cafés, shops and the evening crowd.
Most visitors use Gangtok as a base for trips to Tsomgo Lake, Nathula and North Sikkim, which need permits arranged through registered tour operators. Many hotels can arrange these trips, which is worth checking when you compare stays.
